Stages of Life, 2025 I am a Moldovan photographer based in London, currently studying BA Photography at Metropolitan University. The graduation will take place in June 2025. Stages of Life is a personal and experimental project that explores the abstract concept of time and how it shapes our lives. Inspired by Shakespeare’s Seven Ages of Man, I reflected on the idea that life does not follow a fixed number of stages or gender. . Each person experiences time differently, and our journeys are unique. The project began as a technical challenge—working with analogue photography, sequencing, and double exposure to capture the feeling of time passing. As the work evolved, I moved away from traditional sequencing and embraced film soup on 35mm colour film to create abstract, colourful images. These unpredictable results became a better way to express the emotional and layered nature of time. Many of the final works combine double exposure with film souping, blending portraits with abstract textures. The layered visuals symbolise the transitions we go through—moments of change, memory, growth, and uncertainty. I embrace imperfections in the process, as they mirror the fragile, unfinished nature of life itself. The open-ended title, Stages of Life, invites viewers to think about their own paths. My aim is to create a visual language that speaks to both personal and universal experiences—how the past, present, and future all exist together within us.
